My name is Charlie and I am a Skills Recruiter at Exeter College and my role is to work with businesses to ensure you have all the facts and knowledge you need to recruit an Apprentice, along with managing the recruitment process.

The Advanced Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media is a new framework to Exeter College who have worked closely with Skillset (http://www.skillset.org/) (the Sector Skills Council for the Creative world) who had identified that there was a vast amount of untapped talent unable to get into the industry as most roles are filled by graduates and with the rising costs of University fees this is not a route open to everyone.

An Apprentice is someone you take on as an employee who is also enrolled as a an Exeter College student and spends 4 days a week in the workplace and 1 day at College. There are 3 main components to the Apprenticeship framework which are Level 3 BTEC Certificate in Creative and Digital Media (underpinning knowledge), Level 3 Diploma in Creative and Digital Media (competence) and key skills (literacy, numeracy and ICT).

Therefore the Apprenticeship offers a vocational training route into the industry for those showing an aptitude and raw skills.
