COLIN BURNS CONFIRMED AS DESIGN TRAIN KEYNOTE
Colin Burns, Director of Elmwood, one of the most successful design agencies in the UK, will give a keynote address at the Design Train intensive workshop on Thursday 24th March at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Bristol. The Design Train initiative is funded by The Design Council, the Creative Industries iNet and The Design Programme.
Colin, who is based in Edinburgh, is a Visiting Professor for both the University of Dundee and Glasgow School or Art, and was appointed Director of Elmwood in 2010. Prior to his appointment at Elmwood, where he is in charge of management of the agency and client responsibilities, he worked for seven years as an independent creative consultant through his one-man agency, Martach, and a network of associates.
Colin also spent much of his career working at IDEO – the international design consultancy, which is famous for its user-centred, interdisciplinary approach. During his 10 years at IDEO he worked in California and Germany, as well as the UK. At IDEO, he held the posts Global Head of Interaction Design and the Head of IDEO London.
Delegates at the Design Train event will be inspired by Colin to go back into their businesses and put into practise what they have learnt during the day. The intensive workshop will offer top quality training from creative business experts Emma Collins and Mel Norman about how to communicate the value of design to clients and how to increase design sales.
Designers who wish to attend this special one-day event are advised to book now, as places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. As places are strictly limited, only one person per company may attend. Delegate fees are being heavily subsidised and if you are a member of one of the local design networks the delegate rate is only £69, which includes lunch and dinner. Non-members will pay just £89. The workshops will be held at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Bristol, from 8.30am to 8.30pm.
To book please email Karen@swdf.co.uk or call 01752 346 530.
