No Description Plymouth Businesswoman Nominated For ‘Innovator of the Year’

A tech-savvy businesswoman from Plymouth has been nominated for a prestigious CWT everywoman in Technology Award, and is the only person based outside London to be nominated in the category.

Ella Romanos, 27, Managing Director and co-founder of Remode, has been nominated in the ‘Innovator of the Year’ category. The CWT everywoman in Technology Awards are exclusively for women working in the technology and IT industries, and the winner will be announced on Tuesday 22nd March at the Landmark Hotel in London.

Ella Romanos is the Managing Director of Remode, a specialist game developer based in Plymouth. She is also a board member of Designed in Devon and was instrumental in setting up and developing Extended Play – Plymouth’s pioneering video gaming festival.
She said: “I’m really pleased to be nominated for these awards, not because I want to be treated any differently as a woman or because I have ever experienced any barriers to working in games, but because I hope it might encourage more women to consider it as a career. The industry is changing hugely and there is a lot of scope for innovation, so it’s a really exciting time to be working in this industry.”

Remode creates interactive entertainment, tools and experiences, developing games, apps and tools as their own products and for clients. Ella graduated in 2008 from the University of Plymouth with a 1st Class degree in Digital Art & Technology and also received the Institute of Digital Art & Technology ‘Being Digital’ top prize.

Last year, as a board member of Designed in Devon, Ella helped develop Plymouth’s first games design conference – ‘Extended Play’, which this year is set to reach out to gaming enthusiasts and creators from across the region, by becoming a 2 day festival of games design. Ella has also delivered speeches at an International Game Developer Association event, World of Love (the UK indie games conference) and has presented Remode products to former Chancellor Alistair Darling.

Currently Remode are working on two new unannounced games, one for mobile and one for digital distribution on game console alongside various commissions and further licensing deals on their debut game, Mole Control.
