Welcome to the monthly newsletter of the European Interest Group on Creativity and Innovation e.V. (EICI).
The aim is to inform you about ongoing activities concerning the Creativity and Innovation sectors and to share information about each partner’s efforts in order to support creative entrepreneurs and innovation stakeholders in their respective regions and cities reaching their full potential.

• “Create10 – The international conference for creative industries” 10 – 11 November 2010 Stuttgart (Germany): The future conference for digital trends will give impulse to the European creative industries hosting top speakers, pioneers and pilot projects from all over Europe. The event, enhanced by the partnership with the CReATE project, will focus on visualisation technology and interaction possibilities from tomorrow, look at how mobile internet applications will change our professional and private lives and how users and producers will create values together in the future. The Create 10, hosted by MFG Baden-Württemberg, presents itself in an attractive duet with the German Multimedia Summit (DMMK), the lead event of the digital economy in Germany.

• Information Session on new initiative “Towards a European Creative Industries Alliance”- 9 September 2010 – Brussels: This session will present the approach and structure of the planned initiative for establishing a “European Creative Industry Alliance”. The session will, in particular, discuss how interested parties may benefit from it, so this is THE opportunity to have your say! Your questions and feedback will be important in view of finalising the proposal for this initiative by the European Commission’s Enterprise and Industry Directorate-General. The proposal for this new initiative builds upon the recommendations of the Amsterdam Declaration adopted by stakeholders during an expert workshop in February. Interested stakeholders are invited to register for the information session by 3 September, at the latest. Please note that only registered participants will have access to the venue.

• International Conference “Creativity the Energy of Success” 9-10 September 2010 Kosice (Slovakia) : The non-profit organisation Kosice 2013, responsible for the implementation of the European Capital of Culture project, is preparing a series of events to highlight the examples of European cities which used culture and creativity as a basis for their development. The conference will be a space for discussion and cooperation among the participating partners to serve as a basis for the development of new projects. Free registration available here

• “ICT 2010” 27 – 29 September – Brussels: “Europe’s most visible forum for ICT research and innovation” – This biennial event has become a unique gathering point for researchers, business people, investors, and high level policy makers in the field of digital innovation. ICT 2010 will focus on policy priorities such as Europe’s Digital Agenda and the next financial programme of the European Union for funding research and innovation in ICT.

• “European Cluster Conference 2010” 29- 30 September and 1 October 2010 – Brussels: The high-level “European Cluster Conference 2010” will address the role of world-class clusters in renewing European industry in light of the Europe 2020 strategy. It will gather key policy-makers from the European Commission, Member States, regional authorities and high-level speakers from academia and industry to discuss how better policies can be formulated to make full use of the economic potential of excellent clusters. Additionally, in the framework of the European Cluster Conference 2010, the European Cluster Manager´s Club will be launched. In this way Cluster Managers will finally find a place where get inspired by fresh ideas, build new partnerships and linkages with others and further professionalize through specific break-out session.

• “Open Days” 4-7 October 2010 – Brussels: Around 100 seminars, workshops or debates plus exhibitions and networking opportunities will take place, organised in partnership with regions and cities from all over Europe. The Open Days – 8th European Week of Regions and Cities – will concentrate on “competitiviness, co-operation and cohesion” and present best practice from regional development programmes accross Europe.

• “Creative Minds Leaving an Impact” 21 October 2010 – Antwerp (Belgium): Have you ever been to an all day innovation event with only female speakers? Those creative “female” minds have earned their marks in very different disciplines: from game design over science and medicine to business. From World of Warcraft to neurology and to Playboy Enterprises. The event, organized by Flander DC, offer now a early bird registration fee.
