THE OPEN WEST
The Open West is an annual open competition and exhibition, inviting submissions from national and international artists practising contemporary and conceptual art, inclusive of painting, installation, film, photography, print and sculpture.
The exhibition, of up to 40 shortlisted artists, will run from 9 February to 5 March 2011, in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

The panel of selectors for 2011 will include Richard Billingham and Matthew Raw together with the curators Lyn Cluer Coleman and Sarah Goodwin.
There will be an opportunity for interested artists to participate in a community programme. An artist’s residency will be available at the Meantime project space in Cheltenham. the open west publishes a limited edition screenprinted catalogue and organises artist talks alongside the exhibition.
There are a couple of venues for The Open West, one is Summerfield Gallery, Pitville Studios at The University of Gloucestershire and the other is Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum.
