CORNISH FIRM IMPROVE WEST COUNTRY CYCLE PATHS
A business based in Falmouth has designed, manufactured and installed a series of structures, which are set to drastically improve cycle paths across the South West of England.
20/20, a member of Cornwall Design Forum, have designed and made a structure that incorporates seating, bike storage and information about local cycling opportunities. The innovative structures are being installed to encourage more people to cycle off-road.
The project forms part of the Rural Development Programme for England, under the Sustainable Rural Tourism theme. It was funded by DEFRA and 1 South West with money from the European Union.
Existing and new cycle paths will be developed over the next three years, with these modern yet in-keeping structures as part of the cycle path’s development.
20/20’s structures have already been installed at Siblyback Lake in Cornwall, Haldon Forest Park in Devon and Moors Valley Country Park in Dorset, and will be rolled out at seven other sites.
Jaimie Sibert, Managing Director of 20/20 said: “This is a really exciting project for us with so many keen cyclists among our team. It’s great to secure contracts that require design, manufacture and installation – it means that everyone at 20/20 will be involved in the delivery of the project at some stage.”
Paul Hawkins, Project Manager of 1 South West, said: “In a strong field of UK-wide tenders, 20/20 came in with a very competitively priced and high quality response that comprehensively addressed our brief. We are sure that the site interpretation will give confidence to people to get out and enjoy the South West countryside from the comfort of a saddle.”
