Granny’s Dancing on the Table from Sweden’s Helene Granqvist of Good World and Hanna Sköld of Tangram Film has won the prestigious ARTE-sponsored Pixel Pitch Award at Power to the Pixel’s Cross-Media Forum, held in association with the BFI London Film Festival.

The winning project – claiming the £6,000 top prize – was chosen by a jury of international commissioning executives, financiers and media experts from nine projects presented at The Pixel Pitch, part of Power to the Pixel’s new marketplace dedicated to financing cross-media projects.

Granny’s Dancing on the Table is a coming-of-age fairytale spanning film, gaming, live events, interactive and publishing.

Michel Reilhac, Executive Director of ARTE France Cinéma, said: “It is a rare project that does not activate the “dark side” in us. I love it because it promotes the idea and values of self accomplishment and discovery through positive exploration. It also brings the young and the old closer together. Only good stuff! ”

More than 100 projects were submitted for the competition from 23 countries.

Liz Rosenthal, Founder of Power to the Pixel, said: “This year’s pitches and the high number of first-class submissions to the competition demonstrate how cross-media now means real business as well as extraordinary creative innovation.

“Each of this year’s finalists saw their projects entered into the inaugural Pixel Market and, like many cross-media projects, are beginning to attract interest from financiers. The Pixel Pitch is pioneering an exciting and entrepreneurial trend that sets a path that many others will follow.”

This year was the fourth Power to the Pixel Cross-Media Forum in London. The event brought together leading filmmakers, cross-media storytellers and leading thinkers from around the world.
