You’ve probably seen lots in the media over the last few days about the government’s announcements about the future of a variety of its funded bodies.
I’m very pleased to say that the Design Council has come out of this strongly, and will continue to work as an independent organisation with funding from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. The Council will cease to be a Non Departmental Public Body (NDPB), but it will retain its charitable status, incorporated by Royal Charter. We’ll continue to be financed through a combination of sources, as has been the case for the last few years.
There will be some major changes in the way we work, though, following the recent review of the Design Council conducted by Martin Temple. We’re translating its recommendations into a new and exciting vision and operational plan for our future, which we’ll share with you in due course.
Meanwhile, you may want to take a look at the review of the Design Council here there are some useful Q&As on our site, here Design Council has been placing design at the heart of society and the economy for the last 65 years, and we’ll continue to do so for many years to come!
