The July edition of the monthly online art magazine for the South-West www.artreviewsouthwest.org is now online. In this issue they pay a visit to the Bristol city museum to see Banksy, the Bristol bad boy turned global art star. What might we expect? Will there be a museum left? The art of the past is full of nature, it can seem that we have turned our backs on all that. We feature two artists, Sue Bates & Clare Shepherd that place nature right to the fore in their art. It took my breath away when I first saw the flower paintings of Sue Bates; never will you see a petal more delicately rendered. Read about the working methods she uses to achieve this. Crows are fascinating birds, cheeky, intelligent and resourceful. They occupy the edge and seem to be looking in upon us humans; perhaps this is why we are wary of them. Clare Shepherd captures this mystery in her wonderfully coloured studies of these birds. To those that think art lies solely in the mind remember there is a whole world out there.
