It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.” Charles Darwin, 1809 – 1882

The culture of business in the 21st Century is changing rapidly – overturning much of the previous received wisdom of doing business and raising questions about the nature of creative work in relation to changing cultural, economic and social contexts.

Is this programme for me?
The Entrepreneurship for Creative Practice Masters programme at Plymouth College of Art introduces an entrepreneurial concept to your creative practice and provides opportunities to showcase your current creative work and undertake internships in arts or business organisations whilst encouraging your own self-directed critically-reflective learning.

What will I learn?

This programme will encourage innovation, commercial experimentation and interdisciplinary creative thinking in a real world environment. This will be achieved through an approach to teaching and learning that incorporates web 2.0 environments, external inputs from industry experts and entrepreneurs, internships, and the encouragement of self-directed critically-reflective learning.

The content and activities delivered will be at the leading edge, driven by the latest findings, research and thinking from across the world. We aim to inspire you to become fascinated and knowledgeable about what really happens in creative companies. The programme is not just about theoretical business models it has real practical outcomes that you can immediately apply to your practice.

How will I learn?

The unique learning environment that is offered with the Masters programme will offer scope for innovation, flexibility and further creativity and professional experimentation and is supported by our collaboration with ArtsMatrix, the internationally respected Skills and Enterprise Development Agency for creative professionals, who will also deliver a number of the programme modules. The majority of ArtsMatrix staff continue to operate their own creative businesses; this, together with ArtsMatrix’s extensive industry links brings a unique perspective to the programme.

Where will I learn?

For those studying on the Masters programme you will be able to take advantage of a dedicated creative workspace situated within the City. You will also be able to use the extensive facilities on offer at Plymouth College of Art.

How much time and money will I need to commit?

This programme is offered part-time and as such you will need to be able to commit to one day a week for the duration of the programme, which will last two years. The programme costs will be £4000 and this can be paid for in 20 equal monthly instalments of £200.

I’d be interested in finding out a bit more about the programme, who can I speak to?
